Starry ray - Raja asterias

Ray with strongly depressed body, forming a disc joining the head, the trunk and the pectoral. The tail is quite distinct from the body. The centre of the back has a row of raised notches. Brownish with numerous dark and yellowish circular blotches. Found on mixed mud and sand and sandy bottoms from 10 meters down to 300 meters. Measures up to 80 centimeters.
