Pearly razorfish - Xyrichtys novacula

Pearly razorfish (cleaver wrasse) – Xyrichtys novacula – Very compressed body, with a very deep head and almost vertical profile in adult fish. Dorsal fin extends along almost the whole body. Curiously, if threatened this fish buries itself. Lives on sandy and muddy bottoms and close to Neptune grass, from 4 – 5 meters down to 50 meters. Maximum size 30 centimeters.
