Large ray with rhomboid body, wider than it is long. Head is quite distinct from the central disc of the body and the tail is much longer than the body. Dark-coloured back with whitish belly. Found close to sandy and mixed sand and mud beds in coastal waters, to depths of 200 meters. Maximum length 2.6 meter.
