John Dory – Zeus faber
John Dory, also known as St Pierre, refers to fish of the genus Zeus, especially Zeus faber, found across a wide distribution. This deep-sea fish is easily recognized by its laterally compressed olive-yellow body, a prominent dark spot on its side, and long spines on the dorsal fin. The dark spot is believed to act as an “evil eye” to ward off predators. Both distinctive and photogenic, John Dory is a fascinating subject for underwater photography.
