Overview
The SeaLife DC1200 is a purpose‑built underwater camera that feels like a trusted diving companion. Its large “piano key” controls and forward-extended shutter lever make it incredibly easy to operate—even with gloves on—while tactically underwater.
We found the configurable sea modes (blue/green for shallow and deep) more effective than generic presets, providing accurate colors with minimal effort.
Image & Video Quality
Images are sharp with rich saturation thanks to the 12 MP CCD sensor. The 5× optical zoom is practical for framing, though fine detail can't rival modern mirrorless systems. Video captures sound in 640×480 AVI at 30 fps—valuable for dive logs, even if not in HD.
User Experience Underwater
Menus are intuitive, with Easy setup, Spy mode (interval shooting) and full control in flash modes (Auto/Manual). The ergonomic housing design, including rubber armoring and secure grip, makes this camera feel almost tailor‑made for divers.
Verdict
The SeaLife DC1200 earned its place in our underwater gear. It's not just a land camera in a housing—it’s a thoughtful, diver-centric design that makes capturing underwater memories straightforward. Its rugged build, intuitive controls, and adaptive color modes make it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced underwater shooters.
