Angelfish

Angelfish – Pomacanthidae

Marine angelfish are striking perciform fish belonging to the family Pomacanthidae. Found mainly on shallow reefs in tropical waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and especially the western Pacific Ocean, they are admired for their vivid colors and elegant forms. With around 86 species across seven genera, angelfish are among the most photographed reef inhabitants. They should not be confused with the freshwater angelfish from the Amazon Basin. A favorite subject for underwater photography thanks to their beauty and grace.
