Damsel Fish

Damselfish – Small Reef Guardians

Damselfish are small, oval-shaped reef fish with compressed bodies, short heads, and small mouths. Adults are typically brownish in color, while juveniles display a striking fluorescent blue that makes them stand out against the reef. They are commonly found around rocky bottoms and posidonia meadows at depths from 4–50 meters. Reaching up to 15 cm in length, damselfish are active, territorial, and often seen darting among corals and sea grass, making them lively subjects for underwater photography.
