Gobies – Gobiidae
Gobies belong to the family Gobiidae, one of the largest fish families with over 2,000 species in more than 200 genera. Most gobies are small, typically under 10 cm in length, and include some of the world’s tiniest vertebrates such as Trimmatom nanus and Pandaka pygmaea, which reach less than 1 cm as adults. While a few species, like those in the genera Gobioides or Periophthalmodon, can grow beyond 30 cm, such cases are rare. Their size, variety, and adaptability make gobies fascinating and diverse subjects for underwater photography.
