Wrasse

Wrasse – Colorful Reef Fish

Wrasses (family Labridae) are a large and diverse group of marine fish, many known for their striking colors and patterns. With around 500 species across 60 genera, most wrasses are small, usually under 20 cm, though the Humphead wrasse can grow up to 2.5 meters. They are efficient carnivores, feeding on a variety of small invertebrates, and many smaller wrasses follow larger fish to catch prey stirred up from the seabed. Their vibrant appearance and unique behavior make wrasses a favorite in underwater photography.
