Knobbed triton - Charonia rubicunda

Large gastropod mollusc with a spindle-shaped spiral shell, with a very wide final whorl. Feeds on echinoderms, particularly red stars. Grayish-pink with white and brownish stripes and blotches. Porcelain-like inside. Found on rocky and detrital beds from 15 – 20 to over 40 meters deep. Maximum size 40 centimeters.
