The historic Wasserburg peninsula glows in soft winter light, with St. Georg Church rising above the lakeside buildings and willow branches framing the quiet shore.
The historic Wasserburg peninsula lies on the Bavarian shore of Lake Constance in southern Germany and is one of the most picturesque landmarks in the region. Once completely surrounded by water, the former island became connected to the mainland after the separating channel was filled during the period of Fugger rule. The peninsula is dominated by the Catholic parish church of St. Georg, whose distinctive tower forms the architectural centre of the scene. In this photograph, the church and surrounding historic buildings are seen from the lakeside on a mild winter morning, with bare branches and a golden willow framing the view. Calm water, the exposed shoreline and soft sunlight give the scene a peaceful seasonal atmosphere, while the combination of historic architecture and the lakeside setting reflects the distinctive character of Wasserburg on Lake Constance.
