Mellieħa - Malta - Hillside Apartments Overlooking Comino and the Mediterranean

An elevated view from Mellieħa in northern Malta, showing modern hillside apartments, a rugged limestone slope and the Mediterranean Sea stretching towards the island of Comino.

This photograph captures an elevated view from Mellieħa in northern Malta, looking across a densely developed residential area towards the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the distant coastline of Comino. Modern apartment buildings dominate the foreground, with their balconies, rooftop terraces and pale-coloured façades forming an interesting architectural pattern along the hillside. On the right, a steep limestone slope covered with scattered shrubs and Mediterranean vegetation rises above the surrounding buildings, providing a natural contrast to the urban landscape. Beyond the rooftops, the coastline opens towards the sea, where a low rocky headland extends into the water and a small vessel can be seen travelling across the distant horizon. Mellieħa is one of Malta’s northernmost towns, situated on elevated terrain overlooking Mellieħa Bay and the surrounding coastal landscape. The town has developed from a traditional rural settlement into an important residential and tourism centre, while retaining close connections to the countryside and natural scenery of northern Malta. From various elevated viewpoints around Mellieħa, visitors can enjoy panoramic views towards Comino and the Gozo Channel. This photograph illustrates the relationship between modern residential development, rugged Maltese limestone terrain and the expansive Mediterranean landscape that characterizes the northern part of the island.
