This photograph shows Dachau Castle, also known as Dachau Palace, in the city of Dachau, Germany. The remaining palace wing recalls a larger Renaissance residence once used by the Bavarian court.
The original medieval castle dates back to the Counts of Dachau, while the site was later transformed into a four-wing palace under Duke Wilhelm IV and Duke Albrecht V. After major Baroque alterations in the early 18th century, three wings were demolished in the early 19th century, leaving the surviving wing seen today.
