Mainau Castle rises above the shore of Lake Constance, with its baroque façade, gardens and lakeside setting visible from the water.
Mainau Castle, also known as Schloss Mainau, is the baroque palace at the heart of Mainau Island in Lake Constance near Konstanz, Germany. Built between 1739 and 1746 for the Teutonic Order, the palace forms part of the island’s historic ensemble together with the castle church, gardens, palm house and butterfly house. This lakeside view shows the palace above the shoreline, framed by trees and the calm waters of the Bodensee.
