The ancient Odeon of Herodes Atticus, a stone theater on the slopes of the Acropolis, overlooking Athens.
This photograph shows the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, an ancient stone theater located on the southern slope of the Acropolis in Athens. Built in 161 AD by the wealthy Roman Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, the odeon was used for musical performances and cultural events. The semi-circular seating made of marble and the impressive stage wall reflect the architectural sophistication of the Roman period. Today, the theater is still used for performances, connecting modern audiences with the cultural traditions of ancient Greece.
