Shortnose Boxfish - Ostracion nasus - Under the rock
Also known as Ostracion nasus, Small-nosed Boxfish and Lognosed Boxfish. Found singly on rocky reefs and estuaries on sandy slopes with mixed sponge and weeds. They feed on invertebrates and worms. Maximum length 30 cm. Found in depth from 2 to 80 meters. Widespread Indo-Asian Pacific.The bodies of Boxfish are covered in a toxic mucus which can be released when stressed.
