Great Egret - Ardea alba modesta - majestic

A majestic Great Egret (Ardea alba modesta) wades gracefully through shallow water in the middle of the lake.

Great Egret – Ardea alba modesta – นกยางโทนใหญ่ (nok yang ton yai). The Great Egret is the largest of the egret species. Its neck is approximately one and a half times the length of its body, noticeably longer and more curved than that of other egrets. When not fully extended, a distinct kink is visible in the neck, and a clearly defined line runs from the bill to well past the eye. As it wades through the shallow waters of the lake, it displays remarkable elegance and poise.
