Robust, deep, compressed body. Large head and wide mouth which has large , canine teeth. Blue-grey with dark marks on the sides. Fins are shaded with pink. Lives close to rocky or sandy bottoms or posidonia meadows, from 15 to 150 meters. Measures up to 100 centimeters.
