Red Scorpionfish - Scorpaena scrofa - Hiding in the grass
The largest of the Mediterranean scorpionfish, easily recognised by the large number of fringed appendices around the head, the mouth and the sides. Reddish with brownish-black marks. Found on rocky and detrital bottoms and amongst Neptune grass from 3-4 meters to over 300 meters. Measures up to 50 centimeters.
