Complete frontal view of the Xemxija Roman Baths site, including later-added walls possibly linked to cave dwelling use.
This image presents the complete front area of the Xemxija Roman Baths near St. Paul’s Bay, Malta. The original Roman rock-cut structures from the 1st–2nd century AD are visible alongside masonry elements that appear to belong to a later phase of occupation. The added walls at the entrance suggest that the site may have been reused in subsequent centuries, possibly adapted for cave dwelling or shelter purposes. Such secondary reuse of ancient Roman structures was not uncommon in Malta’s history, where abandoned classical sites were often incorporated into later rural habitation.
