Striped Red Mullet - Mullus surmuletus - Making a hole

Slightly compressed body. Short head with a pair of barbels underneath the lower jaw which are as long as the pectoral fins. Distinctly oblique front profile to the head. Reddish with a dark band from the eyes to the tail. Lives on rocky or detrital bottoms, from 10 to 500 meters. Maximum size 40 centimetres.
