Barracuda – Sphyraena sphyraena
The Barracuda (Sphyraena sphyraena) is a powerful predatory fish with a tapering, compact body that is laterally compressed. It has a long head with a pointed snout, a prominent lower jaw, and two dorsal fins set well apart. Its bluish-grey topside and dark side bands make it instantly recognizable. Found in open waters from the surface down to 100 meters, barracudas can reach up to 165 cm in length. A striking subject for underwater photography, often captured patrolling the blue in sleek motion.
