Ravensburg – City of Towers and Gates

Ravensburg’s many towers are visible from afar, earning it the nickname “City of Towers and Gates.” Once a prosperous trading hub, the city features over a dozen historic towers built mostly in the 14th and 15th centuries.

These towers vary in shape and design — some angular, others semicircular or round — depending on what best served the town’s defense. The narrow streets and alleys of the old town reveal well-preserved traces of Ravensburg’s rich and storied past.
