The Stadtmoosach flows quietly between historic buildings in Freising, its calm surface reflecting the old town architecture and bare winter trees.
The Stadtmoosach is one of several branches of the Moosach that flow through Freising and has shaped the character and development of the historic town for centuries. In this photograph, the narrow waterway passes quietly between old buildings, with its smooth surface reflecting façades, trees and the pale winter sky. The Moosach was once an important working stream, carrying water through the town and powering a succession of mills, while some sections were later covered as Freising expanded and modernised. Today, open stretches of the Stadtmoosach remain an attractive part of the historic centre and contribute to Freising’s distinctive relationship with water. The scene captured here shows how closely the stream is integrated into the urban fabric, creating a peaceful corridor between buildings and offering an unexpectedly tranquil view in the middle of the city.
