Snow-covered slopes and rugged Alpine peaks stretch far into the distance from the Zugspitze, creating an expansive winter panorama beneath a clear blue sky.
A vast Alpine panorama unfolds from the high slopes of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. In this photograph, a broad snow-covered ski slope descends toward a dramatic succession of rugged mountain ridges and peaks extending far across the horizon. Ski-lift structures on the left provide a sense of scale and emphasize the high-altitude setting, while the surrounding limestone mountains rise sharply from deep valleys below. The Zugspitze reaches 2,962 metres and offers one of the most extensive mountain views in the Alps. From the summit area, around 400 peaks can be seen across Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland under favourable conditions. The combination of brilliant snow, dark rocky ridges and the deep blue winter sky gives this scene a powerful sense of openness and captures the extraordinary scale of the Alpine landscape surrounding the Zugspitze.
