This photograph captures a severely deteriorating corridor within the abandoned Festaval Tourist Village in Malta. Along the left side of the passageway, a large section of the structure has collapsed, exposing broken concrete, twisted metal reinforcement and substantial fragments of fallen masonry. The floor is covered with rubble, stones and wild vegetation, while the remaining walls display peeling plaster, exposed limestone blocks and extensive weathering. A series of narrow rectangular openings along the right-hand wall provides a glimpse of the original architectural layout. At the far end of the corridor, daylight reveals an overgrown exterior area, with an electricity transmission pylon visible in the distance. The contrast between the dark, damaged interior and the sunlit vegetation beyond creates an atmospheric view of the abandoned complex.

Festaval Tourist Village was formerly a holiday accommodation complex overlooking Mellieħa Bay in northern Malta. Its buildings were arranged across the hillside, incorporating accommodation units, connecting corridors and shared recreational facilities. The surviving passageways provide an indication of how different parts of the development were originally connected, allowing guests and staff to move between accommodation and communal areas. Following the abandonment of the complex, the buildings gradually deteriorated through exposure to weather, vegetation growth and the absence of regular maintenance. The damaged concrete and exposed reinforcement visible in this photograph illustrate the advanced state of decay affecting some sections of the former tourist village. As building materials weaken and structural elements fail, previously accessible spaces can become obstructed by fallen debris and unstable masonry. This photograph documents one of the more extensively damaged areas of Festaval Tourist Village, preserving a visual record of its architectural deterioration and the gradual transformation of a once-active holiday destination into an abandoned ruin.
