Three colourful fireworks bloom above the illuminated Mellieha Parish Church, with red, green, blue and golden trails standing out against the dark night sky.
Mellieha Fireworks 2026 illuminate the night sky above Mellieha, Malta, during the traditional celebrations surrounding the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady. Fireworks are one of the most characteristic elements of Maltese village festas, accompanying illuminated churches, decorated streets, religious ceremonies and community celebrations. In this photograph, three distinct aerial bursts rise above the village, each displaying a mix of red, green, blue, white and golden trails. The lower burst spreads broadly above the church, while a second, brighter explosion opens to the left and a third ring-like effect forms higher in the sky. Smoke from the display drifts behind the fireworks and catches traces of coloured light. The illuminated Mellieha Parish Church forms a strong visual anchor below, surrounded by traditional festa lighting and the glow of the village celebrations.
