Neuravensburg - Castle View - Village, Pond and Allgäu Horizon

From the elevated ruins of Burg Neuravensburg, the landscape opens across the village of Neuravensburg, the Neuravensburger Weiher and the gently rolling countryside of the western Allgäu. In this photograph, houses and gardens fill the foreground, while the pond forms a calm horizontal band through the middle of the scene before green fields, wooded ridges and distant mountain silhouettes stretch toward the horizon. The ruined keep of Burg Neuravensburg stands above the village and today serves as one of its best-known historic landmarks and viewpoints. The medieval castle was probably founded in the first half of the 12th century and later developed into a larger fortified residence before most of the complex was demolished during the 19th century. Only the keep survived. Neuravensburg itself lies within the municipality of Wangen im Allgäu, and the pond below the castle hill is regarded as another characteristic landmark of the village. This elevated viewpoint beautifully combines the settlement, water and broad Allgäu landscape in a single panorama.
