A high view from the ruins of Burg Neuravensburg across the village rooftops, surrounding fields and the broad Allgäu landscape beyond.
From the elevated ruins of Burg Neuravensburg, the village spreads out below in a patchwork of houses, gardens, narrow roads and green fields. This photograph looks directly across the rooftops of Neuravensburg toward the open countryside beyond, where farmland, woodland and distant ridges create a layered rural panorama. Burg Neuravensburg stands on a hill above the settlement and has long provided a commanding view over the surrounding landscape. The medieval castle was probably founded during the first half of the 12th century and was later enlarged and rebuilt before most of the complex was dismantled during the 19th century. Its surviving keep remains the best-known historic landmark of the village. Neuravensburg is today part of Wangen im Allgäu in Baden-Württemberg and lies within the gently rolling landscape of the western Allgäu. Seen from the old castle site, the close relationship between the historic settlement and its surrounding agricultural countryside becomes especially clear.
