Neuravensburg - Castle View - Red Rooftops beneath the Allgäu Hills

Neuravensburg - The village - image

A sweeping view from the top of Burg Neuravensburg across the village, with red-tiled rooftops, the church and rolling Allgäu countryside beyond.

From the top of the surviving keep of Burg Neuravensburg, the village spreads out below in a dense pattern of red-tiled roofs, houses, gardens and narrow streets, with the church forming a prominent landmark near the centre. Beyond the settlement, green fields, wooded ridges and gently rolling hills stretch across the western Allgäu landscape. Neuravensburg developed around the medieval castle that once dominated the hill above the village and served as the centre of the historic lordship of Neuravensburg. The castle is documented from the 13th century and later passed through several owners, including the Abbey of St. Gall. Much of the complex was demolished from 1837 onward, but the keep survived and was later preserved and adapted as a viewing platform. Today, this elevated viewpoint offers an impressive perspective over the village and surrounding countryside, clearly showing how closely Neuravensburg remains connected to its historic castle hill and rural Allgäu setting.
