Dar Tal-Providenza - Madonna Tal-Providenca - Detail

The attractive octagonal chapel of Madonna Tal-Providenca was completed in 1753, it is set in the area of the former village of Hal Kbir and replaced an earlier church. The elegant portico was added in 1815 as a buttress, following damage by lightning and an earthquake which weakened the church structure. The pantheon-style chapel has small statues against the roof line. It is normally closed but houses a canon ball said to have been used in the 1565 Great Siege.
