Umbraculum mediterraneum

Gastropod mollusc with an enormously developed foot in proportion to its shell, which is flattened oval. The surface of the animal is covered with numerous unequal-length tubercles. Brownish or orange in colour with light tubercles and a whitish shell. The species lives on detrital and muddy beds from 15 down to over 50 meters deep, where it remains buried during the day. Maximum size 20 centimeters.
