How to Remove a Photo

You can remove your photos depending on their current moderation and publication status.

The available options differ for draft, rejected, pending, and approved public images.

Removing Draft or Rejected Photos

If your photo is currently marked as Draft or Rejected, you can delete it yourself at any time.

To access the photo edit page, you can:

  • click directly on the photo from your Dashboard
  • find the image in your Photos list
  • open the album containing the image and access it from the album photo list

If you need help locating your photo, please see the help article:

How to Edit Photo Title, Caption, Description and Meta Data

On the photo edit page, you will find the Delete button on the right-hand side below the image.

Once you confirm deletion:

  • the original uploaded image will be deleted
  • all resized versions will be deleted
  • all generated thumbnails will be deleted

Important: This action is permanent and cannot be undone or restored.

Pending Photos

Photos currently marked as Pending cannot be deleted directly by users.

This restriction exists because the image may already be in the moderation workflow.

If you need to remove a pending image, you must contact the site administrator using the messaging system.

Your message should clearly include:

  • your username
  • the photo title
  • the upload date
  • your request to remove the image

Depending on the moderation stage, the administrator may:

  • reject the photo before approval
  • remove the image from the server if the request arrives immediately after approval but before the image becomes public

Approved Public Photos

Approved public images cannot be deleted immediately.

Instead of a Delete button, you will see a Request Delete button.

When you request deletion:

  • the image will immediately be set to private
  • the image will no longer be publicly visible
  • the file will remain temporarily on our servers

Two Week Retention Period

Approved images remain on our servers for 14 days after a deletion request.

This waiting period exists to allow processing of any pending sales, downloads, or administrative checks.

If no sales have been made for the image:

  • the original image will be removed
  • all resized copies will be removed
  • all thumbnails will be removed

If the image has generated sales:

  • the original public image will be removed
  • a resized watermarked reference copy may be retained in our secure non-public archive

This archive copy is kept for record-keeping, licensing verification, and sales administration purposes only.

Important Notes

  • Draft and rejected photos can be deleted immediately by the user.
  • Pending photos require administrator intervention.
  • Approved public photos require a deletion request and retention review.
  • Sales-related records may require archival retention.
