How to Edit Photo Title, Caption, Description and Meta Data

Editing your photo information helps visitors discover your images more easily and improves your visibility across the Photo and Crochet platform.

You can update your photo title, caption, description, meta data, album assignment, and tags at any time from your Dashboard.

Accessing the Edit Page

There are several ways to access the photo edit page.

From Your Dashboard

If the photo you want to edit appears in the Last Added Photos section on your Dashboard, simply click on the image. The edit page will open immediately.

From the Photos Section

If the photo is older and no longer shown in your recent uploads:

  1. Open your Dashboard.
  2. In the left navigation menu, click Photos.
  3. Select All Photos.
  4. A page showing all your uploaded images will open.
  5. Find the photo you want to edit.
  6. Click the Edit button below the image.

From an Album

If you organise your images in albums, this may be the quickest method:

  1. Open your Dashboard.
  2. Click Albums in the left navigation menu.
  3. Locate the album containing the photo you want to edit.
  4. On the far right of the album row, click the Action button.
  5. Select View Photos.
  6. A list of all photos in that album will open.
  7. Find the photo you wish to edit.
  8. Click the Edit button.

Editing the Photo

The edit page allows you to manage all information related to your image.

Assigning the Photo to an Album

The first field on the edit page is Assign Album.

Click this field to select the album where your photo should be stored.

If you have not created any albums yet, your uploaded photos are automatically stored in your personal user album:

albums/community/yourUserName

After selecting the desired album, click the Save button below the album selector.

You will remain on the same page so you can continue editing other information.

Model and Property Releases

Below the album assignment section you will find buttons for:

  • Model Release
  • Property Release

Use these if your image requires legal release documentation, for example:

  • identifiable people in the image
  • private property requiring permission
  • commercial licensing situations

Editing Titles, Descriptions and Meta Data

Below the release section you will find language-specific editing blocks.

Each language section contains fields for:

  • Photo Title
  • Caption
  • Description
  • Short Description (Meta Description)
  • Keywords (Meta Keywords)

Important Language Information

Always enter your content in the correct language block.

For example:

  • English content → English section
  • German content → German section
  • Thai content → Thai section

If your native language is not currently supported, we recommend entering your content in English.

Adding translations in multiple languages increases your image visibility and helps more visitors discover your content.

More translations generally mean:

  • wider audience reach
  • better search coverage
  • increased chances of views and sales

Each language section must be saved individually.

After editing a language block, click the Save button within that specific language section.

Managing Tags

Next to the Save button you will find the Manage Tags button.

Tags help connect your image with other similar content across the site.

When you enter meta keywords, the system automatically creates matching tags.

Example:

sunset, beach, malta, sea

The same tags will usually be assigned automatically.

Why Tags Matter

Tags are displayed on album and image pages.

When a visitor clicks a tag, the system shows:

  • other photos
  • albums
  • related content

that use the same tag.

Because of this, tags should always be:

  • relevant
  • accurate
  • descriptive

Editing Existing Tags

The first tag table shows all tags currently assigned to your photo.

From here you can:

  • remove a tag from the photo
  • delete a tag completely (if it is only used by this photo and no longer needed)

Use this carefully, as deleting a shared tag may affect other content.

Adding New Tags

If you want to add additional tags beyond your meta keywords:

  1. Enter your tags as a comma-separated list.
  2. Example: harbour, fishing boats, mediterranean, travel
  3. Click Add Tags.

There is no strict keyword length limitation for tags, but they should remain meaningful and relevant.

Tags should improve discoverability, not contain unrelated search terms.

Tips for Better Results

Good titles, descriptions, keywords, and tags improve discoverability.

Best practice:

  • ✔ Use clear photo titles
  • ✔ Write descriptive captions
  • ✔ Add accurate keywords
  • ✔ Include relevant tags
  • ✔ Add translations where possible
  • ✔ Avoid unrelated keyword stuffing

This helps your images reach more visitors and improves your chances of downloads, licensing, and sales.
